Captain Kirk Sets Phaser to Stun

Okay, I know that this isn't fair for people that don't subscribe to Rich Miller's Capitol Fax, (money well spent by the way), but man, does Sen. Kirk Dillard lay into the Governor today. Rich gave Dillard a chance to respond to the Pete Giangreco attack piece on Edgar and the Senator did not squander his opportunity.

He lights into Rod for everything from his Golden Gloves record to his vote against school reform as a Rep to his approval rating...and then some.

At this rate, a Blagojevich/Edgar race is shaping up to be a slugfest.

"The people of Illinois want a leader who will BE Governor, not PLAY Governor."

If Pete landed some kidney punches last week, Sen. Dillard landed the first haymakers.

Should be fun hearing the rebuttal.

While Pete's comments had substance backed up with facts and actual numbers, Dilliard resorted to the tired, negative, same old stuff.
He should have told us which way Edgar would flip or flop on school funding reform or why the horse racing industry gets subsidised by state government or why Edgar made the largest tax increase in history permanent after draining public pension funds without providing relief for poor school districts with no tax base. Why didn't he talk about the billions wasted on Build Illinois and Illinois First and other pork that the repubs regularly doled out for almost 30 years to curry favor from the rich and influential. Does anybody believe that Edgar and Thompson are paid hundreds of millions a year from their various private ventures because of their great competence in the private sector?
I can't believe that voters actually elect Dillard to public office!

"...Edgar and Thompson are paid hundreds of millions a year"?! And you claim that it's Dillard throwing out unsubstantiated negative stuff? Get real.

If there is anything to be learned here,it's that both sides have a lot of ammunition and a lot of mud, and that both sides will be more than willing to use both. I think that the voters are going to look for the person that can do the best job of providing hope not dirt.

Dillard said that Edgar did not raise taxes. That is a total lie. Period

Edgar made the sur-tax, that was set to expire, permanent making the hard working people of Illinois continue to pay the LARGEST tax increase in Illinois history. That is a tax increase. Period

Half of the money that was colleted from the sur-tax went back to the counties from where it was colleted. Edgar took that money away from the Counties and put many of those Counties in finacial hardship that they have yet to recover from.

Edgar also implemented the gas sales tax, increased hunting and fishing license over 100%, raised the permit cost of hunting for pheasent on state run hunting reserves 100% and much more.

Edgar also tried and failed to raise income tax again in what he called a tax swap.

Every tax and fee increase that Edgar imposed came straight out of the pockets of working men and women and their families.

We are still paying for them today.

Another good reason not to support Jim.
