Jim's in!

Durkin that is. As has been widely reported, Former State Rep. Jim Durkin is going to run for the seat being vacated by Rep. Eileen Lyons. And while I will miss having Eileen around - she is a sharp, straightshooting legislator, it would be nice to have Jim back. He and I worked together in the AG's office many moons ago and then served together in the House until his ill-fated Senate bid.

I agree that Jim will be a good addition to the House. He won most of the major newspaper endorsements over Durbin. He's willing to reform the prosecutors offices who think they have no need to reform.

It would be great to see Durkin back in the GA. Knows the criminal code better than anyone, had the guts to stand up to the yahoos who trashed the integrity of the criminal justice system in Illinois, and put an end to the thought that John Cox could ever be taken seriously as a state-wide candidate.

Proof that there are still a few good Republicans left in the state.
